I am blanking on the details of it but I almost got the adrenalin shakes thinking about it. A fellow pulled a gun, I was down and out on lower broadway in nashville, just around the corner from the Ryman and the Union Gospel Mission. The next sunday I went to a Black Church because I was so homesick. It is funny I was calm and cool as cucumber when it went down, but shook like a leaf later.

I picked up a jagged piece of steel and ripped his arm open. This all happened years before when I was in elementary school, I have a picture of me and jitterbug, that is about how big I was 7 or 8?
Sometime during that period I went into a closet and took a belt and tried to hang myself from a coat hook. I tell I was a handful. It is amazing to me that I have survived this long

Huge piles of shreded steel
Between the steel mountains and the playground was a chain link fence. Occasionaly a jagged piece of steel would slither down the side of the mountain and slide under the chain link fence into the school yard.

I have met the enemy and he is me, or they are us. And we must rise above the Cro-Magnon Killers, we need to make these culture wars more civilized. We need to create art for our enemies, paint them into corners and read them poetry, and sing our war song.
