like any machine, it worked as long as it worked
much as our loves and our arrangements
first the brakes go and then the transmission
and when the hard drive crashes, I'm beat to submission

It only takes a power outage or an equipment failure
or the weakest link in the chain to queer the mechanism
I've never obeyed Murphy's Law, my tickets are outstanding
Love's engine is precision, the maintenance demanding
