mr. poet

Post by constantine »

and so it goes my brothers and sisters
what's a mr. poet to do?
upon my shoulders
loiter the misery and troubles of modern man
i have not undertaken this venture lightly
nor without due consideration to the loneliness
of the road upon which i embark
i do it for you -
the lonely and oppressed,
the forlorn and misbegotten,
even the morally incontinent and the quasi-flatulent
that fall through the cracks
of bigtown and river city on a daily basis,
godless towns with godless men
committing acts of unspeakable evil
perverse and malevolent
wicked denizens of the dark alley
the cul de sac and dead end,
men without mothers
mothers without fathers
etc.
kinship transgressions that titillate lasciviously
until you don't know what the hell is happening
even before you get there?
that's what i want to know
that's why i'm mr. poet!

I like this dino
nice rhythm

I just can't decide if it's Walt Whitman (Song of the Answerer)
or
Barry Manilow (I Write the Songs)
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

mr. poet will live forever
will wander the outer regions of our imagination
an insightful nomad
and you may catch a glimpse of him

from time to time
and of course there was much more
than arms and legs
there was the heart and soul of an artist

this poem below
i enter with the poetic license
issued to me I feel from beyond,
sums it all up

Ikiru

misfortune teaches us the truth,
time passes, squandered
in forgotten moments, your children
grow before sleeping eyes
and when you wake
they won't recognize or even guess
what occupied you in your dreams

decades pass in the cubicle-
neurotic flirtations with jane-
white bread in brown bag
shredded memoranda-
punched in and out.....

what will i do when death shakes my hand ?
what will i say to my son ?
the sunset looks beautiful tonight
I never noticed until now.

a poem by Constantine ( Dino ) Pantazonis...........Rest in Peace, my friend

ps. Ikiru was a Japanese movie made in the fifties about a bureaucrat struggling with a terminal illness....but this poem, in my mind...is about a lot more than just a movie
the death of empathy is the birth of barbarism

i feel you- mr poet- i dont know what to do either- but your eloquence and incredibly handsome face are carved in my soul- your poetry- your eloquence-
and i shall miss you- because- you seemed to have - a soul that filled with empathy-beauty and a hidden private mysterious sly fox sexy that only another poet can trace with words and shadows- although i strongly sense that you are at open mike and having a blast somewhere- shy and perceptive-- but what a voice- i could hear you in kauai- in chile- i know your voice-
love to you- sweetest of all journey s- hugs
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---
