Stilltrucking's idea in full bloom - My kettle grill planter

Several weeks ago, I asked what I could do with my old Weber kettle grill to recycle it. Stilltrucking suggested I turn it into a planter. I thought that was a great idea and I did it! Thanks, Jack!

Yeah, Cecil... i'm quite pleased with the idea... and grateful to Jack for the idea! ... when i planted these 2 weeks ago, they were only about half that size. We had some rain and they're flourishing! I love the red/green/verigated coleus ... not sure what the name of the green spiky-leafed plant is on the left but I like that, too. The middle one with the dark green leaves is daisies. It looked really pretty when the white daisies were in bloom.

These are annuals but around here, sometimes annuals come back the next year so I'm probably going to put them in the garden before the weather gets too cold and see what happens then try something different in the planter next Spring.

I remember that plant variegated spikey plant from my past but I, too, cannot remember the name of it,, but around these parts that's a houseplant. (the leaves are very 'dracena-like' but quite sure it's not that... they are tall growing plants without flowers)

Beautiful

I got the idea from my grandmother. She would use anything for a planter. The most surreal were the dolls heads. We lived next door to a junkyard. When she found a broken doll she would use the head as a planter.

Thanks, Arcadia! What a cool idea, huh? I'm going to bring it inside for the winter. Who knows? Maybe the plants will survive until next spring?
