a bed that will never fit her

Post by WIREMAN »

there is a corner
of the room where
a man waits
only C.J. can see
his shadow
she wants to climb
a skateboard & ride
to the light
forever free she falls
into slumber
feet dangling off
a bed that will
never fit her
we take a break
she sleeps soundly
the sleep continues
so we close the door
and leave knowing
that all we can do now
is love her

with two kids that put us in hospitals full time for more than 5 years,
this hit me like a ton of bricks, I really got the full impact, mark....

at Johns Hopkins, i used to bar the door when my son was sleeping, and a doctor in training wanted to check his vital signs for umpteenth time......sleep is peace.....sleep is a respite for the patient and the worriers .......

take care my friend, I got your message, will call you tomorrow.......
