when eyes look away

Post by saw »

landscape secrets inspire the best
color mixes nature into a batch of
impossible vibrancy unlike the palette
of pain Joanne chooses from

sure trees and skies shed sometimes
but not tears for her, she cannot
see the daily encore performances
that occur in spite of her artless state

of mind, her clockwork orange lip-gloss
she lifts not even a puny pinkie ring
to forge new trails, to espy the birds
of paradise that still the meadows

content to wallow about in black and white
mostly all black, to tell the truth, these days
I say, gee isn't it gorgeous here in the countryside
she says, looks just like yesterday to me
the death of empathy is the birth of barbarism

Saw, ennui illumined through poetry. Sylvia would like I'm sure.

thanx john, I should probably mention this is a person that had all the love and support in the world, including my own, but was essentially too lazy to try anything new, content to repeat each day just like the day before.....miserable and unfulfilled with a chip on her shoulder that it was everyone's fault but her own.......
