saw a cat yesterday
on the way to the store
it was drizzling outside
i called him
he walked up to me
i touched his fur
and stroked his back
we lingered for a while
he went to his dry blanket
and curled up on the porch
i went to the store
bought a pack of cigs
and walked back home
lonely, i believe
i needed him more than he needed me
but, i could be wrong
chance encounter

Re: chance encounter
posting is an exercise in futility, yet i feel compelled to do so regardless. what's a minor poet to do? at worst, or perhaps best, it makes for a nice storage place. at best, or perhaps worst, i've nothing to do anyway - so why not? Why didn't you wait to carve the toikey?

Re: chance encounter
posting is like tossing the dice
sometimes you land on a steady surface
sometimes the world cracks
dice tossing is a risk

Re: chance encounter
it is a hard job being a minor poet but somebody has got to do it
I once drove three hundred miles in search of a stray cat.
I guess they need us, I am pretty sure we need them
enjoyed the poem thanks
