winter haikuesque

a boulevard of poplars
against the snow
harlequin patterns

~~~~~~

snowshoe rabbit
winter fox
hunger bleeds the air

~~~~~~

breath like frozen water
the days of sunflowers
fly like wild geese

~~~~~~

broken picture frames,
voices in the night,
who let in the wind?

~~~~~~

we bought five pink tulips
for each finger
in the hand of yesterday
