Lugubrious

Post by Kailashana »

I dreamed they were there.
A soggy Valentine piñata
dangling overhead.
Men I once loved but love no more,
not in the way of once before.
They poked and they prodded,
they danced in lugubrious blood,
some were dead to me, and some may
as well have been--I don't even remember
their faces, their names escaped me
in too long ago memory.

It was all worth it, this dream I once dreamed and
I found you five hundred miles across forty dunes of time
and a handful of sand,
your fingers touching tall green grass, your steel-blue eyes
surveying the ocean between us.

Seagulls crying overhead.

Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

It was.
It was, well worth it

Thank you for writing
