when I left

Post by the mingo »

when I left
the lions were still in the woods
& the birds yet in the trees
when I came back
the lions had turned to stone
& cast stone shadows
the birds had also stopped moving
some in the trees
others in midair
it was that way for the longest time
then you died
that was when the birds everywhere
completely disappeared
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

stoned 8)

I almost forgot about the time I turned to marble
I would hardly notice that I am a thing called alive
if not for pure poetry
thank you

when the birds disappear it's a sign to seek them out. life is dismal without them.

excellent imaginative piece, el mingo... put it on the biggest billboard in the state.

it seems presumptions to me, for me to comment on a poem

but if I was a poet I would
probably quote dadio
and say

Well then, el mingo, if that's the case. I fully understand! we could all use cash around here but we also value our independence more than dinero. I certainly do.
