around the block
i don't have the courage
to go anywhere
but here,
timidly i walk
the sidewalk around
the block, avoiding
any semblance of
human contact, yet
the trees show
me affection, the ivy
whispers smiles
into my ears,
a stray cat looks at me
from across the street
and says good morning.
an old, ragged man passes
me, talking to himself
making no eye contact,
as i wonder if that
was me
looking for myself
talking to myself
i don't say much
around the block
around the block

beautiful simplicity is all you need if you do it right....well done
