like a flayed fish
guts showing
on the killing floor
nothing is left
to our imagination,
the rest of the world sees
something entirely different
they stack boxes of documents
photographs, give their account
amateur detectives
with plenty of time on their hands

it doesn't matter how badly
you want to touch her
breakdowns are a dime-a dozen
the world-wide-spiderweb
has forsaken the eyes
eschewed the splendor of voices
it has settled for artificial intelligence
lung-less, soul-less
words without a temperature
electronic hearts beating intermittently
it gets confusing, we are forced to guess
the intent, in the process falling
from grace, believing we must be right
