Where We Live

Post by 68degrees »

Old men on the sidewalks,
bundled up: some with walkers,
women with orthopedic shoes

Younger ones by the beach,
men in fedoras, smoking;
women with blue veils, covering
blackened eyes

Others farther down the street,
in ramshackle brownstones, born
in music, dying in skepticism

Still others follow the pebbled lanes
to white cottages by the water
where women laugh and kiss
fish; to stone towers that tilt
toward olive groves by the sea,
all waves rippling in blue time

you paint a tropical picture, where the climate trumps everything, and the fish get lucky
the death of empathy is the birth of barbarism

Wireman, Miles Davis, the King of Cool.

Saw, the older I get, a decent climate is very appealing. Hit 70 degrees here yesterday. Thought I was in heaven.
