her eyes were calico
like her personality
speckles of fairy dust on the lips
of a far away smile
she was outside the molds
shattered all the calculations
like a mirror
flung back at the sky
we basked in our brevity
it was never about quantity
only the moments of rapture
fleeting as a hawk in a tree
that bird is going to fly
it's going to prey like it is told
we never spoke of the future
we knew, this was it.
