NIGHT AFTER NIGHT 1974.

Post by dadio »

Night after night
you dreamed of her.
You wanted to return
to the dream once you

woke, but when you
did she wasn't there again,
just that sharp piercing
overwhelming heart pain.

You bought her the box
set of Mahler's 6th,, wrapped
it with a pink bow, not
a man thing, but well,

you know. In her eyes
you saw a new world:
blue skies, puffy clouds,
sun's light pouring down,

and sadly men that drown.
You loved her lips when
speaking or still, the redness
or paleness, the kissing from

and of them, which none
can condemn. You embraced
her in dreams and for real,
her body close to yours.

Arms encircling, hands touch,
words spoken, but not overmuch.
Night after night you dreamed
of her, kissing, making love,

holding hands, but that was then
in what you called, never ever lands.

euphoria of love
reason is over rated, as is logic and common sense-i much prefer the passions of a crazy old woman, cats and dogs and jungle foliage- tropic rain-and a defined sense of who brings the stars up at night and the sun up in the morning---

poignant
I recall the giddy high
the crashing low
her touseled red hair
her green eyes
how the moonlight through the venetian blinds
painted curving lines on her naked body...
this poem
helps me remember

thank you
