there is grace in empathy
when one can pull apart the vines
of our bias to get a peek at an unknown reality
just as honorable and valid
as all the wildflowers we know like our hands

the ego can do monstrous things
believing all the while in its virtue
and so here I sit this morning
writing my atheist manifesto sermon as if
i really know anything about anything

it's the writing i have a jones for
that if I just apply myself, i believe
that's what I was accused of in the past....
teachers saw this kid with potential that refused
to "apply" himself.....so now....I do

find time....as instructors turn in their coffins of disdain
my restless legs bound to the desk legs with faux ribbons of determination
so I must apply my hand to traverse the yellow lined universe that lay before me,
black and white marks emerge in rapid fire streaks of furious intention
like the tails of latent comets...... illuminated

for dead teachers to finally see

if only those dead teachers could see what good and what not-so-good has done to their student bodies throughout their profession...

student bodies strewn on hallways littered with torn papers graded with the fucked "Fs" that tore the egos from innocent souls...
