God Wars part 42 or so

Post by mnaz »

Random thoughts, like
I remember a time after "911,"
with the God Wars in full force,
out in the desert to escape war,
trying to hear silence and reggae.
"Hey you Big Gods I'm here," I said,
as I listened to songs of Jah love.

High Jack :P
Did I tell you I am special? Kind of like Philip K. Dick special

Oh yeah I love that big god son of a bitch
and he scares the bejeezus out of me

I remember my uncles coming home from the big one

I remember 911 too, and the criminals who walked away from the fiasco
and now appear regularly on the news blues as talking head wisemen.

And I remember the Turner Joy and the Maddox

hell I still remember the Alamo

sometimes emoticons fail me
I have been having random thoughts about writers who use them
and writers who seldom use them

Oh G_d I am rambling again
there ain't name for you I know
thanks for the music and the poetry 8)

It's just a moment I remember pretty clearly ... which quickly passed. I doubt it meant much in "real terms." It came at at time when it felt like the world was crushed by armies of Religion, Inc., and a hellacious itch to rekindle the Crusades ... But it don't mean nothin'...

It don't mean a thing

I remember all the red white and blue
in advertising and defiant "patriots "
buying Hummers to show the bad guys
we will burn as much gasoline as we damn well please
I remember Freedom Fries
Fuck the French for opposing the war
I remember no WMD's... and it just blowing over
like a warm breeze across the desert
the death of empathy is the birth of barbarism

I remember the Coalition Provisional Authority
and the Christian warriors who staffed it, mostly graduates of schools like Liberty University, and Bob Jones University

I really did have a "Hey Gods, wtf, I'm over here..." moment, but that was childish of course. It recklessly ignored realities of the day. Those were times when..

kids played with plastic again,
tweaked detonators & went to pray.
god would battle god, the final scene,
trained in bahrain, $ laundered in riyadh.
gun runners would make their killing.
moscow munitions, free world rockets.
the holy land must... be... possessed,
its bombed-out streets of holy cause.
the prophets knew this desert well, its
false gods, cities in ruined desolation,
fathers destroyed, children left to drift.
ezekiel had his valley, dry bones danced.
but now the desert is crushing silence.
you can hear fossils scream.
you see god in whirlwinds.

Amazing. I wrote this even before the recent escalation ... Here we are, 17 years later, and? ...
