Dead Wives at the Beach ~ Dead Wives in the Desert

a telephone
rises out of sand
until tall enough to cast shadow
the shadow rings & rings
but no one is to home
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

dead phones on the path
a hand rises from the sidewalk
2 quarters firmly held
ready for deposit
to call into the past
