Believe it or not this park is a 5 minute walk from my house.....in the heart of the city

Love the river view! We need these places to escape into. Birch Hill is just 10-15 min down the road from me, Pearly Lake (where I got lost recently) 10-15 min in the opposite direction. Pisgah State Park is maybe a half hour to my west, Mt Monadnock same distance to my NE. An embarrassment of riches!

really like that one of the bird among the rushes. I'm usually bedeviled by my Third Law of Photography: By the time it's framed, composed, & in focus, it either picks its nose, scratches its balls, or flies away.

I've got a phoebe nesting in the rafters of my back porch; and I've induced chickadees to take food from my hand, though it takes a frigid day & blocked access to a feeder. In the spring, they've dive-bombed me - males possibly, defending territory?
Many yrs ago when my daughter was scouting out colleges, I took her to visit a couple of schools in NYC. At one point We got off at the wrong bus stop, & while looking for another to board, we literally had to watch our feet to avoid stepping on pigeons. Must be something about the species (or genus?) because the mourning doves hereabouts will wait until the very last second to take flight before getting run down by car.
