where was that taken? sunset over the ocean must be on the west coast... mustn't it?

Thank you, Roy! It was actually taken after a storm in Ocean City, Maryland. The orange was showing in between the clouds several times 180 degrees from the sun in the west to the ocean in the east. It was absolutely gorgeous! I took several photos that afternoon.

Here are several more from that day … I just kept taking them it was so gorgeous. One shows the sun over the bay in the west going down. Thought it was pretty cool to see so much color in the east. It’s usually sunrise photos I get over the ocean. I have taken dozens of them.

nice series - especially the one you selected, I like the dynamic shape of the water line - captures the energy of the tide. I don't get the ocean very often - 2+ hours drive across the worst traffic in the state, then engaging in combat for a place to park. I did get some nice shots of surf exploding on the rocks at Marin Beach outside of SF, but all I had to do was go along for the ride - my daughter was in charge of the trip, & my ex's husband was driving the rental.......

Thanks, Roy! I’m glad you agree that I chose the right one. Unfortunately, I’m down from #2 to #6 since this morning. Hah! This is mostly a popularity contest bc it’s my job now to get people to vote and I’ve run out of people. lol … Still a couple more days in this 2nd round so maybe I’ll find some more people who are just as kind as you!

As far as the beach, I’m 3 hours away and maybe an extra hour for traffic. I love love love the ocean! Years ago, I lived on Cape Cod. It’s sooo beautiful there.

I went to the beach last summer for a week — first time in maybe 5 years. Unfortunately my hip was deteriorating and i wasn’t able to walk down the sand to walk along the shoreline… one of my absolute favorite things to do! I feel so small and insignificant, my troubles melt away in the sun, and float away from my legs as the waves retreat. It is sooo awesome! But I couldn’t walk there last summer. Since then, I have had my 2nd hip replacement and I look forward to going back to the ocean soon! I think I can do the shoreline walk now.

I’d love to see your SF waves photos! I also have several photos from the San Francisco area shoreline, plus Moss Beach Fitzgerald Marine Reserve. Let’s share them! Maybe on a new thread on the photography forum. Soon! Can’t wait to see yours
