i'm not sure we saw all five islands, we got kind of distracted by the mud.

a deer sized necklace of vertebrae

sun blasted hikers

that white section up there is for some reason called 'the old wife'.

World's Highest Tide.
Your photos are wonderful. I love lenses pointing west. All my work is done in an easterly direction. Oh to see the sun set up there. And winter, does everything freeze? How bout the northern lights? I bet they are a regular sight.

Is this where you got that ouch of a bruise???? Has it cleared up yet???? How often does the tide go out???? Who's RG???? That area looks like the same kind of area in northern Wisconsin especially around the Apostle Islands.

uh, let's see...

i'm west coast by birth, east coast by the hour. i fell and got the bruise out at clam harbour, and it's still just as big as it was, but the colours are fading except that it now has a pretty green border outlining it. and i believe that tidal patterns are pretty universal in that they generally ebb once and flow once each day.

i'm not quite as thrilled with this set of shots, because the batteries on my digital started dying just after we set out so i had very little zoom action on it, which i think leaves them without a certain sense of intimacy.

oh yeah, and i don't know who RG is because the initials were already carved into the rock when we arrived. see how the seaweed has dried over the cut?

my favourite from this series is the fungus.
