How do you take a photo of it without the flash reflecting off the piece?

This piece is oil on plywood with some routered detail...it's inspiration is from a photo I took of a black eyed susan that had fallen to the ground and seemed to struggle to maintain it's beauty.

I usually take photos of my work outside ...avoiding that nasty flash altogether...

This also a very small piece for me...being about 16" x 12"
