july 11thToday, 2:11 AM
7/11
for some a 24 hour excuse
to walk late night streets
when the heat steams the pavement
and mind wallows in solitude

11/7
for some a date in july
the eleventh day of a seventh month
inching into mid-july
peaking hot sun daze
eloquently lingering as if time knows no end

today
a midday happenstance
a moment when cool mind shirks from heated plights
when bombs and newspapers hold back
so that the inner wish takes form

let us praise the light within
let us kindle the sparks of hope
fan the hints and rumours of possibilities
join me in releasing hatreds
and fears
shake away doubts
you who know me not
need not trust me,
but trust in the will to grow stronger
if not us, who?
if not today, when?
