I was born before the war
and all the evil in the world was not down some oil well in the fertle crescent

i was in baltimore

but i thought it was in germany

it was in my frightened child's mind

poor little puppy

whimpering in fear and I held it close to me and calmed it

then when it was happyh with a loving trusting heart again

I held it at arms length and twirled myself in circles until it was frightened again
