clean fun

Copper looks at me and says:

“you look like my man.”

I laugh in his face. “really?” I say.

“you fit the description of a man that just robbed a bank across the street.” He smiles thinking he is slick. “You have some ID?”

“Oh yes...” I say and make not move to grab it. I laugh at him and smile. “do I have to give it to you?”

“I could bring you in?”

I give him the ID after fishing it out of my pocket.

“you have criminal charges?”

“oh yes.” I say.

“what?”

“Grand theft auto.” I smile. I know he can’t do shit about it. “in Calgary.”

“let me see your fore arms.”

I do—he runs my name and lets me go. I thank him and walk off.
thus spoke G.A.P.

the truth
walks down
a crooked line

she touches
my mouth
with her
abstract

smile

it is just
enough

to see
the Phoenix
reborn
