Beautiful Madness

He sat in front of his laptop
in a tattered robe
and unkept hair.

Sometimes he wore
different hats to get in touch
with his characters.

He muttered about bad
lines then deleted
a whole page of writing.

Chain smoking, mumbling to himself
while pacing the attic room
then back to his desk again.
He looked like a beautiful madman.

But I saw myself in him.
Being a writer myself,
he made me question my own sanity.

When I question my sanity, I rest assured I am indeed insane.
