Doyle Tate rhymes with masturbate
I was six years old and had no clue
until Doyle Tate, the older kid up the block
gave me lessons in underwater hitchhiking
at the neighborhood swimming pool
Up until that time I thought the thing was strictly for pissing
I knew that it grew in the mornings, and that was slightly alarming
but I had no idea what pleasures that the instrument could provide
But Doyle showed me the basic motion, the scale
after that I improvised.
How did you learn?

For a time I thought it was an eleventh toe, that was handy for playing piggly wiggly in the bath.
Then when I was about forty years old I saw the steve martin movie The Jerk and if finally dawned on me what my "special purpose" toe was for.

well, I say granddad, he was more a friend of my grand dad's. he used to come over to our house and play with us... when he saw my mum and dad go out.
He used to do this magic trick where he'd sit with a magician's top hat on his lap. He'd show us that the hat was empty beforehand. And then he'd sit on the couch and get us to reach inside the hat on his lap and feel the rabbit. My younder sister had a go first. I think the rabbit was afraid because by the time it got to my go it was scared stiff. Poor little thing. It must have been old too. It didn't have any fur... It was so scared. One night I made it sick with fear.

I was a very clean child Clay. She was always giving me baths. God rest her soul. How that woman loved me. She never thought I would remember,

Masturbation an odd topic for an artist's community?
What world are you living in, doreen?
Why isn't it a valid topic? Do artist's not masturbate?
It's a very human thing.
Is there not an art to it?
Some would classify all art as masturbation.
We discuss sensitive topics here.
I mean, if we can talk about farting in art museums, we should be able to talk about jacking off.
I thought I handled it in a sensitive way.

Sorry, it's just a hard subject.
And I don't think it should come with an arts site.
It's up to you.
Do your own thing.
I'm not doing it.

Yes Clay it is very sensitive
that's why it must be handled delicately
Passive sex a pain
Freud's Breakfast
Two over easy.
Thanks for explaining it D
Cause it beats me.

The made love in the mountains, they made love in the streams,
They made love in the valleys, they made love in their dreams.
But when they were finished there was nothing to say,
'Cause mostly they made love from ten miles away.~john prine

But honestly... I was playing around with punning but still... I really don't think this is a suitable topic for these forums. When people join these forums, they have to click YES that states they are 13 years or older.
I truly would like to change that to 18 years or older but I don't know how to do it. I would have to have someone help me change the wording. And I don't think this topic is appropriate for 13 year olds. I just don't. Ultimately I am responsible and if some child's parent complains, what then?
Also, some of the answers state that adults taught children masturbation and that is definitely not something that's OK. It is way not OK.
Lightning Rod, in my opinion, this is probably just one more instance of you purposely posting a topic just to bait me. How is this baiting me? You want to make me argue with you in public. You want to get me upset. You think that's fun. You think it's funny. You get some type of thrill out of it.
And you knew that I would find this topic inappropriate for these boards and so you are deliberately attempting to push my buttons.
It's not going to work. I'm not going to argue with you about the appropriateness or inappropriateness of this topic for this site and if you want to start in on claiming I'm a prude or a censor or have a closed mind or whatever it is you choose to say about me because of my opinion, whatever.
In my opinion, topics like this are not only inappropriate for 13 year olds but also cheapen the site.
This is an arts site. And I'd like to maintain a modicum of class and decorum.
I hope to see the topic sink to the bottom of the page and off into the next. And I suggest that if you really want to talk about your personal masturbation habits, that you do it on a board that is set up for the purpose of exploring sexuality.
I know what you'll say... "art is for exploring sexuality." OK fine. Well write a poem, paint a painting, play a song. But to openly ask the members of this site how they learned about masturbation is really just plain uncool.
I'm sure you've heard "low class is better than no class" but that's a joke.
For Jack to say "no sex allowed at Studio Eight"... well that's just not the case. We have a lot of sexuality expressed here in many art forms. But this post is not an art form. It's prying into the personal lives of our members and it isn't appropriate on this site.
That's all I have to say about it. Talk about me behind my back if you want. Whatever. This is my opinion and I mean it.
