Salvation/Damnation, One Morning

Focus upward,
gaze fixed on a feathered trail,
into a delicate crease,
billowed pillows,
fluid whitescapes,
echos of fluid shapes below,
of rock-solid sculpture...
heaven, as far as I need it,
through time and unrepentent tide,
through the eyes of Jesus,
through measureless inner space,
witness the ascension.

Anger is power.
If harnessed, pure treachery.
light of impassioned justice,
blinding light,
of chain reaction,
of heat, not sight,
duration unknown,
wrong fused with right.
To pull back one moment
is all it would take;
a moment harder to hold back
than the time it fully consumed.
