The Doormat

Post by Lightning Rod »

being trod upon was the doormat's purpose in life
the doormat was proud of every footprint
"wipe your souls on me
I swallow mud and dust.
I enjoy it, I really do."

the doormat was also an optical illusion
in astroturf
when you enter it says, 'welcome'
when you leave it says,
"Don't Let the Door Hit You In the Ass"
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

do I hear a Carly Simon tune?
"These words don't make me a poet, these Eyes make me a poet."

Yep.

It's actually a nickname I've given myself from time to time.

About the poem, the last stanza... what I usually say is

"Don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya!"

Your friend,

mine says "wipe your paws"

and on a different note this reminded me of that song..."hit the road jack and don't come back no more no more no more no more"...etc
