and we, on Monday mornings, no longer meet.

Post by Perdida »

what am i supposed to do
when I watch the distance between us -
(through the back windscreen of our lives)
stretch
like a tree-lined dirt road, winding; far away, big as a house?

shades change, and we’re a pair of yesterdays
swinging ourselves inside-out

what am i to say
when on the edge of me, in the middle of no-where
love and maybe’s hide, in side streets, in-between stars,
between sighs, twisting the truth?

tomorrow creeps up - quiet . . .
carrying the basket full of hope
the glass half full, the black and white of reason
and we, on Monday mornings, no longer meet.

"on monday mornings, no longer meet"

that was my favourite part of this. I don't know why. I'd hazard a guess and say i like it because it sums up the whole piece - something that used to me, is no more.

"a pair of yesterdays" ...we cannot help but flaunt the haunt such a great hollow space it carves within us - which here you have cleanly outlined in such manner as now it haunts me. Delicious.
Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.

i keep coming back to this line like it was a friend ;

"shades change, and we’re a pair of yesterdays
swinging ourselves inside-out "

thanks, Perdida, for this journey of longing in memories freshly picked.
