Using Your Head

Post by saw »

who cares about
getting stuck
in a traffic jam if
we're together
solving the riddle
of the universal mysteries
that plaque mankind
let the fucking cars pile up
for twenty five miles
we'll shut off the engine
crawl into the backseat
slither beneath
that old Indian blanket
laughing at the angry horns
of amplified profanity
that echo from a different reality,
til Officer Deadpan
whacks on the glass
with his custom billy club
and we can see our faces
in his big fat mirrored shades,
when he asks us
what we are doing, we will
reply in unison, "Just tryin'
to stay warm officer, just
tryin', to stay warm."

Saw I love this poem. The humor and Zen of driving make for heady poetry.
