gorilla wake at brookline zoo

the head lady gorilla
babs, matriarch
of the zoo tribe
was euthanised
with incurable kidneys.

keepers laid her out.
mother, daughters, sons and cousins,
caressed farewell.

the silverback, alone,
did not attend.

This is interesting. You might want to re-consider the title, though; I thought it was going to be a comedic piece.

i like this.

nice and subtle, no room for nor any need for birds picking stinking flesh.

maybe change title to

"a wake at brookline zoo"

or something.

subtle? I think not. It's better than most of the other squeaks on here---yet it's more 60's anthropomorphism 101

Read some Shakespeare carefully and you discover he's just another sentimental Tory liberal--with superb rhetoric skills, though not so great in logic

You know that I have always admired your skill in bumper sticker writing, Hester! Bumper sticker writing ( also known as modern poetry) comes in handy when people can't put together any creative ideas or find some evidence for their belief systems .....

The line that worries me is
love america or fly a 707 in to it. I don't think the divsion is that clear, but i think it was sarcasim?
