pendulum shakes this way
blasts through the iron walls
my heart, my heart
if tears could flow
i'd waterfall this one-horse town
shrieking and whining
the noise, the noise
if brains could function
we'd fly this two-bit planet

it'd be better to take

whining when you should be wining and
dining em while you shoot your best right now shot.............
I could have another shot, but it is a lot easier for me to just proceed as if I have no shots left, but I know it is a lie, always a hope for one more turn at bat, one more satisfied woman before I die, I watched master piece theatre the other night, the last episode of He Knew He Was Right, talk about a good death.
I do miss her whinning most of all,
"In my heart I'm pining, while her old engine's whining
With eighteen wheels a-humming "Home, Sweet Home."
if brains could function
we'd fly this two-bit planet
the road the road it never ends over that hill is zion and behind the last one too, straight as an arrow through far left texas desert, twisting up north to Ruidoso and the inn of the mountain gods. Through the Mescalero Apache reservation, it was killing me but I loved it like a mother lover, for twenty tears and a million maybe two million miles it was the sweetest home I ever had, living in a sleeper of a truck like it was my steel womb.
a truckers nightmare to run out of road, so I haunt a silicon highway
a rocket ride, to the
other side, if ya need
me the calvary's on
the way
in the the valley of death into jaws of hell
boldly they rode and well
the charge of the seventh calvary
he's out and about
a lil slow mind me, but alive...........
yeah man somedays I gots to kick myself to get going, selling my car going to get a motorcycle, somehow some way I got to get back on my wheels again, I wonder if I can get some training wheels,
Jamming with you all like trucking down the boulevard in a large car, my million mile allen watts tape in the cd, a pack of double bubble chewing gum, a pack of Merits, a mug full of good hot java, and a clear night in the desert.

like when all time stopped
in Dagsboro, Delaware the
place where the wired man
met the road, head on in '76
I had left D.C. on impulse and
moved in with a band of gypsy
ironworkers at the beach, after
a night of intense revelery and
wrestling bouts... me ...tucker and
paula got in the truck and headed
for "Stompin' 76" in Galax, Va. on the
way I had this chivas regal dream of
flight and tried to take off from the
roof of that chevy pick-up at 70 mph
I did fly right to the edge of the light
which I must add is slow and silent
when all was said and done I came
to on the highway pavement alive...
gloriously alive...although I broke the
right collarbone and was road rash
head to toe......................................

Grandpa died last week
And now he's buried in the rock
But everybody talk about
How badly they were shocked.
But me I expected it to happen
I knew he'd lost control
When he built a fire on main street
And shot it full of holes.
Oh Mama

tough love
the kid has had enogh tough love for a thousand lives
how the hell can i teach him zen driving, he is so impatient to hit the road. I casualy mention that people his age should be the best drivers, why are they the worse
he needs that white haired grandmother, but sometimes a uncle can do I suppose.
"When whiskey and blood run together, but I didn't hear nobody pray."
so I blot out the twisted bloody wrecks and try to find a groove, zen driving I say, and he thinks i mean something all fuzz wuzzy cool and serene, love peace and all that bullshit.
No man, it is about play, pleasure, moving, no hurry no hassle no particular place to go, everything on time on schedule, just driving, outside the car, aware of everything around you, maintaining a zone of harmony with the flow of the traffic,
