I was looking for the sound of a Ferrari.

I am still trying to figure out why I had tears running down my cheeks. It wasn't the 1,700,000 price tag. If i won the lotter for a 100 million dollars I still would not want to own one. I shudder at the thought of driving one in san antonio. All I would think about would be getting car jacked.
But I would pay a lot to drive one on a track in germany. Like a ride on the space shuttle.

But I like to own an old Lotus Super Seven They looked so funky nobody would steal it.


I was way into to sports cars in the sixties. I had a austin healy sprite, a 356 porsche, and a morgan plus 4 at one time or another but this is the one I lusted after.

It ran in the SCCA B class with the porsche's and beat them. Small motor but an aluminum body Only weighed 700 pounds.


He is a much later model on the track.

I am so ambivelant about the intfernal compustion engine. I view them all as dinosaurs. They should go extinct. I think electric is the only way to go. But the electricity comes from a lot of coal powered power plants so that ain't good either. I suppose the answer is electricity from fusion not fission.

That lotus had a forty hp engine. I bet it gave pretty good milage.

A friend once tried to describe the sound of a Ferrari F-1 car. He said it sounded like a scream. I never heard one up close.

Austin Healy Sprite : The "bugeye" Sprite , very nice .

Morgan plus 4 : With it's solid oak frame cracking like an
old wooden ship.

The Porsche 356: Now , this is my favorite of all tree.
Hope i get to own one some day , not an original , to expensive,
but; They build some pretty good replicas nowaday.

1950s , 60s , was the golden era of sports cars in my opinion.
The Ferrari 166 mm (Barchetta) , MG TD , Abarth , Alfa Romeo
Giulietta , Lotus Super Seven of course , all classics.

1959 PORSCHE 356 A 1600 CABRIOLET.

I hope the replicas have better heat than the old ones with their air cooled motors and forced air heat. I needed electric socks in the Maryland/DC winters. Could not imagine what it would be like in the great white north.


It was the most stable car in a turn I ever drove. I suppose because of the rear engine. But when it broke loose I could not control it. I could drift the Sprite in a curve but when that Porsche lost traction I would do a 360 in a heart beat.

Broke my heart to sell it. I always heard that German steel was the best but it rusted out underneath. It got so bad the drivers seat started to sag through the floor boards and it took on water in the rain.

If I could afford a replica it would be one of these. I worshiped Stirling Moss. BRG was my favorite color.



But I would settle for a new muffler for my mazda and a set of tires.

I got a motorcycle these days. But it so hot here in the summer I can't hardly ride it.
