I am reading the account in a hearst paper this morning

You know for years I was disgusted about that thing in crown heights because the way I heard it was that the hassidic jews left that black kid on the street because they did not want to carry him in their kosher ambulance. It turns out the cops ordered them to get the hell out of there before trouble erupted and another ambulance arrive with a minute to take the kid away but he was dead at the sceene

It has been twenty seven years since I gave my teamster brother a ride home after work into the ghetto around north ave in baltimore.
After I dropped him off I was stopped at a red light when a fellow came over and started beating on my car. Fearless fool that I was I got out to try and reason with him instead of hauling my almost white ass out of there.

This during my jesus freak years. I said "lean on Jesus before he leans on you." And he said "Fuck Jesus" and I made my second mistake, I turned my back on him. And he leaned upside my head with a six foot piece of two by four. And the black folks were surrounding us watching with tender indifference. That ghetto looked like a war zone, still burned out and rubble from the riots.

I have not been in washington dc in a long time, the last time I was there tthe area around 14 and U streets NW still looked like Beruit and that was maybe 12 years after the riots. 14th and U is about a mile from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. I got feeling the area probably still looks burnded out to this day.

I took a friend from Ghana to DC to check on his visa
the lady at the Ghanian embassy called it chocolate town. Beautiful marble buildings and lead water pipes still serving black residential areas.



I still have visions of those bloated black bodies floating in the streets of NO a week after the storm.

What interests me about that country in La is the fact that it is only 10 percent black. I wonder why? It seems like a very low percentage.

The conviction was overturned. Not sure it has anything to do with Sharpton's doing.
The white kid was beaten pretty badly
That kid who beat him is on probation for too previous battery charges
not the innocent honor roll student that has never been in trouble with the law. But seeing how he was treated by the court not sure if those battery convictions mean much either. I am getting my facts from a Hearst newspaper here in san antonio

When I later visited Blanchard, the colored folks sign was painted over on the side of the building, but the side door was still there.

So when you have a pattern of prosecutorial behavior that he will go after blacks harsher, charge them initially with attempted murder as adults for a schoolyard brawl, and relatively nothing on the side of white students, then he must at least have to come before the authorities here in Baton Rouge, which is the state capital, and explain his prosecutorial misbehavior.

Secondly, we're going to Washington, D.C. next week, and we’re bringing some of the parents, to meet with members of Congress, and we have been assured by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee, that marched with us yesterday, that she will bring us to the Judiciary Committee to try to get hearings on this. So far, Mr. Walters has not answered any questions, but he will have to answer an ethics committee here in Baton Rouge, and he will have to answer if the Judiciary Committee in the United States Congress brings him to Washington. He has no choice but to answer questions. He ought to be removed. I do not believe he can answer the questions. I do not believe that he can support his arguments. So we must, as was done a generation or two ago, before my time, when they brought the federal government in to protect our people in the South, we must do likewise in 2007.

I listened to one of Sharpton's speeches from Jena he said that he had just come from the jail where Kelly is and the kid asked him to tell the people of jena not to do anything stupid. He said please no violence.
