What about this Doreen, I been direct linking and putting a link to the image source, From what you are saying that is still theft of bandwidth?

Optimally, it's best if you host it yourself like on a photobucket or flickr account. BUT.... putting image source says to the owner of the site where you got it that you understand you are using his or her bandwidth to post the image and in exchange for that, you at least respect them enough to direct people back to their site. Therefore, how is it stealing bandwidth? That's what I would present to a webmaster if I got a complaint... "there's a link back to your site" and hopefully that would cover it. But then there's a matter of permission and copyright... so as I said in the image posting guideline post when we first started this site is that it's best if you own the image and if you don't own it, you should have permission to post it.... and at the very least, give credit and link back to where you got it.

Make sense? It really is a bit of a tricky subject. I've gone to some sites that would not allow you to even post any image that isn't your own creation, even if you DO have permission. That's going overboard, in my opinion.

Hope this helps.

I have put the picture on my website and linked that way.

And I have edited the link to the Millias painting above so it is no longer a direct link.
