i support the afghanistan intervention, because it is a truly international effort, and because it is justified, not a fiction
if we become the solo big gun there, it will fail
as has every occupying outside force in Afghanistan before
they do have a central government which is anti-terrorist
and does want to improve civil rights, especially women
and before it was a haven for international terrorists
which coes concern th entire world
but there's only so much any country can do alone
plus the scale of activity needed in that area is much less than the inflated massive military occupation inside Iraq (and Vietnam)
so no i don't think we will be "bogged down" in Afghanistan
because it will not be a bank breaking treasure draining imperial morass
anyway we as a nation have got to learn about how to work with other nations for military efforts that are more sane and where the military action does seek to implement a better peace, but not at the expense of a tragic imposition of will upon the third world
i celebrate obama because i hope this is the end of the era of american overbearing tragic bezerking, with a history causing very real untold suffering. needless and terrible,
and the beginning of a more balanced and beneficial international policymaking
i am against using airstrikes in areas with civilian populations
the rub is that we send out soldiers on patrol, they get a confrontation, they call in air support
there's a limit as to what we can do as an occupying military

now they want back
so we hold em off
for how long and with how much?
depends upon other nations who share in our concern
otherwise, make friends with their neighbors
who also share th same concerns
