I susspose what pisses me off most about some famous rich writer getting rid of himself with a bloody bang is he could have afforded to be more Tidy.

Just out of the blue he walks up to me and says that. I have no idea who he is talking about.
So I say, "If I ever kill myself it will be with a sailboat."
This leaves him blank faced so I say, "ya ought to see the way I sail."
If I could have afforded it and I was sick, and in constant pain, and I couldn't write and I knew my best days were gone, I think I would have gone sailing. Chances are the sound of a sailboat cutting through the water would have healed me. And if not? I just can't imagine an "if not", I must certainly be a coward because I imagine death so much, maybe a funcition of age. But that image of the captain when he was a very old man sailing out of Boston Harbor never to be seen again, that is so easy on my mind, I would like to sail off into the sunset, but sometimes the idea of burning to death seems appealing,
