my kids had not met my father-
my son put it on a loop
i saw my father die 300 times
that day
i hadda make him turn it off-
i bet there are a whole bunch of things
that i forgot to say........ that i meant well-
i tried so many times to make light of it-
and it just kept- weighing me down-

my grandma
and my chai tea with frothed soymilk
my father s women and
we spoke of the difference between frozen
broccli
and fresh
dry cleaning-
and hand washing-

the elephant was always in the living room

with a tv tray
and a drink and an ashtray
