Peace Is Possible

To friendship,

there won't be peace.
we don't prize it.
never have.
the reasons for war outnumber
everyone who's ever drawn a breath,
and excuses outnumber the stars.
we simply value war more than peace,
especially when armed to the teeth.

there's little profit in peace.
there's no duty, honor, and country in peace.
there's no 'be all that you can be' in peace.
there's no courage and valor in peace.
there's no rigid dogma in peace.
there's no action,
only weakness and lack of iron will,
to be despised, crucified.

hated are the peacemakers....

i can make my case, take a chance,
even be at peace with my outrage....
that's where peace will be made,
between my ears,
under my skin....
i expect nothing more.
can't do it.

There will be no peace
Until
I find peace in myself

Peace begins
In
My heart

Think peace
Breathe peace
Practice peace

twenty to one
asian dead to americans
no shiny black wall for them
just gone into dust and oblivion
maya lin,
where are you when we need you now?
you did the civil rights memorial in montgomery
say hello some time to governor charles barclay

it's 120 degrees in baghdad
they (not in my name) wanted to start th war before it got too hot
and they did, in march, how many years ago?
now the sweltering heat
will not be beat by war
another american defeat
so th vietnam syndrome drones on
until the day madness besets us all once again

my inner sanctuary
my out of bounds alienation
yet
because i have a clue about inner peace
i return there again to remember
when my anger goes awry

oh lord, i am praying for peace
and common sense
a lifting of the veil of ignorance
that diviides us from them and them from each othher
a sudden mass enlightenment
mass pacifism is th only answer
i said to th squadron commander
one sunday morning 34 years ago
but i ruled th world from a telephone booth
when i called him up and said
forgetaboutit
and so they tightened the screws this generation
no anti-war officers' clause
only lt watada goin down
down
down
into his soul

bugs bunny in drag
we prayed for peace in flamingo park
an got tear gassed in th dark.

no longer yippies
pushing on thru to radical maturity
we carry on
peace vigiling into the night
Image

If God had intended for us to be peaceful creatures, he never would have created bombs.

The reason John Lennon sang
"Give peace a chance."
is because peace has no chance.

Not as long as there are cops and soldiers.

Not as long as there are languages
different languages
some of which go left to right
some go right to left
and some go up and down

Not as long as there are religions
and believers of these fantastic myths

Not as long as any person
is hungry or envious in this world
will peace have a chance.

If God had intended for us to be peaceful creatures,
he never would have created bombs.
you must have awoke
with that thought
my daddy jimboloco senior was a bomberpilot
so was my sister's quaker godfather robin
they flew together
1944
lucky bastards they were
unscathed
but my daddy bought th farm
1948
an robin is 84
and anti-war
one time he told me
they were not able to drop their bombs
cloud cover
so on th way back
they dropped their bombs
on a village
in a stream of curses

i hand delivered land mines
air farce express
what's one more asian farmer's kid
more or less?
peace is not a blissful time
when chortles gyre an gimble
in th wabe
an th mome wraths outgrabe

what peace
when peace

peace is a pipe-dream
a dream to be shared with friends

a smile and an unspoken understanding
peace
feel-good peace

hey friends, got any enemies?
hell no
we're all friends here
we got peace

peace is a five letter ohm
sounds good in the mouth
pass it on

peace is a barely audible mantra
out loud, it begs to differ
it hums and haws
it crawls on its belly
sneaking under enemy lines
drinking enemy water
smoking enemy dope

peace tries to infiltrate enemy mind
a subtle motivation
taking hundreds of years

peace has a plan
while we sit and grin
silly us, silly gullible us

peace knows that time is all that's needed
gotta take the time

when the moment's right, it'll be peace or nothin
peace or nothin
peace

just sit and know your breath......know your mind as it really is and you will know peace.......sit not just for you but with peacefull intentions for all sentient beings......
