a time for silence
a chance for gut spill

busy day for you
celebrations, old stories,

passover means a nice break from teaching
a time to work my a$$ off marking papers and writing my own

one final morning

birds on steroids
party before heatwave
one espresso, two

first smell of coffee
first sound of steam
first taste

the morning
looks like nightfall
I must be standing on my head

tiniest flaws
huge gaps in logic
my new glasses

the day begins
old age and vitality
the usual mix

mindless habits
permanent chain gang
or chance to escape

empty bread wrappers
on the table
sun passing the window

sleeping dog whimpers
