Same with me, I don't recall ever actually reading it in my childhood, yet it seems to influence so many other works (hmmm, Wonderland in the Poet's Eye?)
It was amazingly easy reading, perhaps because it is a children's book, but it was nice after Moby Dick, and previous to diving into yet another lengthy novel.
