:)

Hey I wasn't born to lead.
As long as you see through me sister j
I will be okay.

Have you ever noticed how the quality of Geoff's spelling waxes and wanes?

Come on Geoff, the main thing is that you get lots of attention, count the views. Studio Eight is paying a nickel for every time someone reads your posts. .
Just kidding
Keep on writing

Keep on writing

Ax's writing is sloppy, is that some sort of style that I am unaware of?

This is the Creative Writing board...where are the standards when spelling is not even an issue anymore? It's become a farce and when I treat it less than seriously I'm called a baiter and antagonistic.

Ya I'm frustrated.

Yes, I'm going to shut-up now and mind my own business. I apologize for the discord.

zlat is one classy guy and I feel extremely bad in the part I played in his departure.

this is the dumbest bunch of shit i ever read.

mousey, you flake, you made two misspellings in the post you criticized ax about.

i will hesitate in making repeated boring snarky jabs at you as a result of it, as a demonstration of how to act like an adult.

z, look deeper as you say. come on. sometimes writing is writing. the character does not equal the writer. the topic of one post does not define one's philosophy.

LISSEN FOLKS: the internet is not real.

those who you see here are real people. they are not bots who are making command line gestures in the general direction of your psyche.

i saw this hiding behind snark somewhere before, dismissive bullshit (going to "eat cheese").

you know where that got? nowhere. if you want that shit, go read litkicks or mcsweeneys and keep your shallow delusions of life to yourself.

i'm not going to lie. i believe in ax. i believe ax is one of the best talents i've seen for a long time. he might need an editor.

at least he doesnt need a ghostwriter.

grow the fuck up, people.

write.

of course, if you have a hole, go fucking live in it. you're entitled to as much cheese as possible, as a food and as a way of life.

yes and no, firsty...

altho geoff certainly has written some honest words, if he chooses to write publically, he should also expect honest replies. it has long been a pattern with geoff to remain in an extreme defensive posture with harsh criticisms towards those that say anything other than "Great, axanderdeath!", "Really fine writing! You're going somewhere!" among those that have given postives to his various writings. That said, if you take notice, he rarely, if ever, will give you any thanks for giving him a kudo or two. But give him a little hint of criticism and he goes off his handle with abusive rants towards the person suggesting improved spelling only.

again, i agree that many of his writings are personal and honest. can it be expected he accept the same personal and honest comments of those that read his words? or should geoff be treated with a suspicious caution, carefully choosing our one's words to speak to him as to not rock his boat? that's where the bullshit begins.

you wrote: "i'm not going to lie. i believe in ax. i believe ax is one of the best talents i've seen for a long time. he might need an editor."

he might also need a bit of counseling if he expects anything from his writing in the future. it would benefit both himself and his supporters. no matter how well he expresses his honesty and his own insights, he must come to grips with editing his own words, if only to grow a larger audience. if he doesn't he may unfortunately remain the poor, unwanted loser he portrays himself to be. that would be a tragedy.

sand castles? The last time I saw sand was in January, lot of mud here!
funny thread, it reminded me an Aira's book title, but I will not explain it now.
I like Alex texts, they always make me smile or laugh. And obviously, the misspelling in on purpose, why bother about that?

I think some of you know that my initial post was pretty much tongue in cheek ragging on Ax about his spelling. I have nothing against Ax and would like to see him do well. We pretty much cleared everything up in those first few posts; however, when he chose to throw in one last remark saying "Just do not point out small spelling mistakes in snide ass holeish ways..." I got my hackles up and responded in kind. Petty of me.

In retrospect I can see how my initial post may have sounded like a personal attack; but I assure you it wasn't. I really just wanted to use the "cock of tease" line as a little play on the phrase "cup of tea" and then I decided to tease him a bit about his spelling. Again, I thought all that had been straightened out in the first few posts.

In the last two years I've responded to Ax a few times and we've had some nice conversations. I never thought there was any animosity between us. He can sometimes be unkind and my humor sometimes, maybe often, falls way short of the mark, and I can sometimes be unkind. And words in these text boxes can often read in a way not necessarily intended. I haven't been on the net all that long and still need to use alot more smileys I guess.

firsty, you have vilified me without ever knowing me. That is your right to do so. I do also see that others agree with you, so I may be coming off like a brash bitch and that will not do.

Ax, I wish you all the best. Sorry that things got out of hand.

I find all this pretty upsetting. Believe it or not I usually do try to get along. Silence has always been my thing, I think I shall return to it.

No hard feelings anyone, I hope. Sorry for popping back in again.

probably the two of you, mousey and geoff, would have indeed cleared this up far faster if it had all been up to you.
But since we're a crowd of people, all with our perspective, opinions and need to express, then what was between two has become a community discussion.

Welcome to the weekly kibbutz meeting. It's all cool. Silence, speech, writing, non-writing.
Hopefully we'll shake our heads and continue on.

After all, we're here cause we want to be. The showcase exists cause of doreen's fine generousity and vision. But it'd be just another gorgeous shack on the block without the folks here who make it breathe.

mousey - dip and dive and rally round. ( you do it beautifully)
geoff - all the spellchecks in the world won't cramp your style. Intentional misspellings? i rather doubt it. Rough draft would be how i'd describe your freehand anecdotes. But if you want to hone, please ask for edit help as you have in the past.

onward.
i, personally, love it when we let it out and then come back to business.

man o man... wha'happened?

I can't even read this whole thread. I tried but started getting dizzy.

Just got back from the ocean. It rained all day friday and saturday and this morning the sun came out ... gorgeous day.. had to head back home. ;)

No dramas for me. Just a buncha old people, er i mean old friends, partying together. I had a blast. Add one to my publishing credits. In the reunion book, they called me, "Dori, our poet laureate" and published a poem of mine which I wrote for the event... it's called "35 years"... a lot can happen in 35 years. Some of those people even learned to spell. Of course, there was a typo in the poem. Oh well. I screwed up and forgot to use spellcheck before submitting it. Just goes to show ya, the darn editors didn't read it probably or they woulda caught it. :D

Yanno what? Life is really really really fucking short. (and I read somewhere that using the word "really" is really weak when it comes to writing).

Let's all hug and make up, wanna? I'll watch. It wasn't my fight. :)

And yeah, sure, Geoff. I never knew you wanted your own spot. If you want one, I'll set it up for you. No problem. What do you want to call it? Come up with a name and a description and send it to me and you're on!

But ya really gotta realize that if you put your stuff out there, you WILL get critique. That's the nature of the beast. We all get it. Be brave. Either accept it and take what you can from it and learn from it, or don't pay any attention to it. It's entirely up to you. Certainly not worth arguing about.

Just for the record, btw, I think spelling counts, I also think you're a very creative and talented writer but if you get critiqued because of your spelling errors, that's a pretty darn valid critique, no?

How a critiquer critiques is the critiquer's style and, as I said, I haven't read this whole thread, but it's been my experience that ms. mousey1 always approaches everything with a bit of levity.

In conclusion (which is a very poor way to end a piece of writing and also it's very poor writing to use the word very too much), what happened? lol... lighten up, ok?

love ya all.
