inhale the perfume
and rejoice

futon on floor
piles of shoes in hallway
food for memories

somewhere up there
beloved son sightsees clouds
fortified by love

personal rule
before morning headlines
inhale, smile, exhale

eyes squint
brain does the same
morning sidewinder

slithering into the sun
wriggling from slumber
the day will be long

I carry my haiku's
pockets full of promise
they will come in handy

pieces of a dream
reach out to daytime brain
fading connection

nighttime explosions
search for explanations
brave friend first on scene

for some, a holy day
