last night, en vivo, the legendary more-or-less symphonic local rock band "Pablo, el enterrador" with special gests that included Rubén Goldín, Adrián Abonizio and Jorge Fandermole. There was also invited bands, I like very much "La gota" (a mix of symphonic-jazz-rock) and "Cronopios" that sounded very blues-like and has a great singer.

....been diggin' on that Scratch Perry disc, Voodoo-ism...
has two of the most crucial rhythms ever sequenced together... The raw insistence of "Freedom", sung by Earl Sixteen (plus its dub version), followed by the gorgeous grind of "Mash Down", by Roots.... "we all have an eye, so we all can see".... Even the shooby-doo singalongs propel this steady, sustained call to see that unfolds on its own terms, in its own sweet time. "Conscious reggae" at its finest. Truly powerful. These songs do mean a lot to me, I gotta say...

Damn man, getting back into a serious murky reggae phase again...
from the same Perry disc.... "African Style Version" is one of the best dubs ever.... The murky echo/reverb wraps around and bounces off the rock solid base line, with all of its propulsive back beats... damn, just amazing... If I ever get off my ass and learn how to play bass, this is definitely one of the songs I want to play...

The gal in the video is a myspace friend of mine. Her name is Laura Matsue and she is from Canada. I've been trying to persuade her to join Studio 8 because it would be definitely for her!!!!
