took my first ever yoga class
last night in the Messiah church basement
with twenty-nine other older folks
and it hurt to make this body
do these things Molly wanted me to
but she seemed so lithe and full of energy
I kept at it, and the resistance was major
like trying to form an old oak tree
into a shape you preferred, no easy
task this manipulation of the spine, but
I'll go back next Tuesday,' cause I'm ready
for some changes, I'm ready to learn
how to breathe in ways I never imagined
