NEVERMORE................................
I agree nevermore

But the wheel turns

if I believed that souls were reborn

It would be a comfort

I still remember that fat jolly statue of the Buddha who made her smile.

Nevermore
but
next time this wheel goes round bound to cover a little more ground

Ikkyu

He relentlessly attacked the hypocrisy of the then corrupt Zen establishment, and even had women as his students. I think he was one of the first Zen masters to have women as students; that was considered quite radical.

Is there anything a man don’t stand to lose
When he lets a woman hold him in her hands
(Grateful dead lyrics that sound like a paraphrase of Ikkyu)

.

sorry about the quotes, this is GO I know.
thanks for the heads up on Ikkyu.

My friend, wireman!

i am travelling these
days on the path
of the dirvishes...
and so,
i apologize that i have not
spent much time with this thread
before i respond

it's just that at the sight
of the name of ikkyu
my heart takes flight,
and soars

ikkyu who loved women
passionately

and wrote about it
passionately

there is a well known quote
by a woman about ikkyu's
effect on women
(as i remember)
she said,
'he calls to
the wild woman
in us'

ikkyu calls forth the wild woman
and
ikkyu plays with her,
dances with her

whitebird loves to spend time
with crazy cloud

IKKYU
floating through the ages
a crazy cloud,

it is with an
amourous persistence
that i will rise a
crazy cloud to
your fair skies.................the chorus to a song i wrote in 2001....

i would love to hear you sing it.

perhaps this summer in baltimore
there will be a gathering
and we will hear you sing
the song of crazy cloud.
we'll sit on a hill
under a blue sky
or
a night sky
and your celtic raga blues
will raise us all to those amorous heights
of which ikkyu wrote of so long ago

gassho friend

rattle-rattle train
slow movin in the rain............

it was more like
a failed buisiness
experiment,
the commodity art
the stakes the heart,

no guaranty's when
the grounds
continually shaky,
histories that were
never made,

there came a
sudden chill in
wheatfields by
where they made
their getaway,

the return to the
burn insured
the bankruptcy..............

jammed on 12 raga/blues pieces
this afternoon,
riyaz & raagini doing their
steady flowin thing with drum kit
backin the sound,
ralph rolling on guitar....
jamie adding bodhran and doumbek,
wired me on my clay pot udu,
laying down the words, throwing in
a lil flute and harmonica interlude,
when it sounds right, bells and shakers
going too..........

i know those dreams
i feel those dreams
i sing those dreams.

they start with us standing
at the bottom of a mountain,

they unfold with us taking different paths to the top

we thought we were travelling to different places
but when we reach the summit
we realize that all along it was the same single bright moon
that shone down upon us

the same single bright moon that we now gaze upon together...

in my dreams,
...as i travelled
i could hear your song
and it sustained me.

could you hear mine?

I hear your song
I feel the heights
& walk the path
to the summit
ooooo there's the in
the way & the plain old
roadblocks upon which
I stumble, always learning
a lesson.......

release

let the guard down
be un-typical
goddesses are meant
to be worshipped
never slandered

release

get off the ropes
the rain falls
bringing with it
salty tears
of joy
