ah the contention that makes up the world
consciousness vs. Un
and so we go into the day
head spinning from dreams
that ended abruptly, what was
the reason for this lack of REM
why have the goddesses of dawn
pulled me from my slumber
does this day have a hidden purpose
is my jam to figure it out
or I am I simply another random being
with a random foray into light
a spark in the eye of vastness that is
the jam of life

my days usually start
with a soft poke
from a cold wet nose
a gentle tap
a whispered
"hey -
you awake?"
a disingenuous question to be sure
because what he really means is
"hey -
wake up
I want to lie where you are now"
sometimes I pretend not to hear
and try finding my way
back to the dream
(flying to NYC
in a small plane
with Tina, Geoff, & Quinton
and walking through dark hallways
inlaid with mahogany and brass)
...
but not this morning
had to pee
so I got up
pulled on robe & slippers
and over the sound of my tinkle
I heard the bed creak
as Kane took my spot

The words came back,
dozens of them
waiting to be recorded

Now they're gone.
Poof!

Somewhere in the lizard brain
For me they are gone (the words)
The tongue hesitates too (improv)
Like I have a mouth full of rocks
I know it's the strokes (x2)
I saw the cloud on the MRI
Ugh!!!

physical evidence
body morphs

waiting on the plumber
not Godot
waiting for a man with a torch
who is limber
not the stereotypical big butt crack
I need a a slim snake
to slither into the crawl space
with solder and copper
all the stuff I used to do
many long years ago when repairmen
were out of the question
and the challenge was fun
I could fix anything back then
and I might still be able to
but I'm unwilling....

just erased a depressing post
about life turning on a dime
too many details about a friend
and I guess it helped to write it
and then backspace it away
I don't know ....life can flip on you
and when you see a friend struggle
in ways you never could have imagined
it's easy to feel like you got a break
and not understand this random selection
and well, it's hard to watch
and it's hard to think about
and you wish you could fix it
but you know you can't so you try
to be helpful, but it's so goddamned sad
and well I guess this version is depressing too
but not as bad as the first one
so thanx for reading and no need to follow this line
of thought

dark gray morning
looks and feels like night
