new wheels
empty promises
to keep this one clean
free of dog hair
and road dust
and spattered mud
and paper coffee cups
and state park tickets
and dead insects
and the sticks and leaves and sand
(stowaways carried in
on my boots)
oh yeah
this one will be different
from all the others
that preceeded it.....

maintenance
each day a step to renew
now after now

brought to life -

framed in haiku -
ruminations
on two wheels...

we'll keep the lights on for you
and the door unlocked...

no access to the internet perhaps
seems cruel and unusual
a lifeline to the outside world
but who knows why men come and go
or women for that matter
we love the jam...but also the jammers

extended family
friends I've never laid eyes on
my electronic tendrils reach out
to touch your tendrils in greeting
(here, I wrote this)
and as I read your words
they create in my mind
an avatar of you
a virtual being
with whom I break bread
to share a humble meal
of language

letters fly
random throws
amorphous targets

I was up in the poet tree
hanging from a branch of the library
it was a wonderful view down
on a pyramid of glowing words
when I woke up I became aware
I had fallen asleep
at my desk in mid-composition.....
nothing to show for my time spent there
in terms of a kickass new poem
but I did have an amazing power nap

dreams take their toll
occupy too much sleeptime
then pooft!
