that moment when
you roll back your
eyes........in between.....betwixt....to be.....doobie.....
the afternoon quiet
deals goin' down
all over the hood,
we have our art centro,
smack dab in the middle
of it all....
right where
Mencken walked &
Edgar Allan
met up with the ghost of
nevermore,
just blocks from
where his beloved Clemm
sisters lay,
near where the
Orioles and Ravens play,
a town on the fly,
a place for the charmed,
that never really
resembles what
John Waters conveys,
a city of surprises,
a city where the
good people wanna Believe..........

oh Baltimore
ain't it hard
just ta live
oh yeah i flew by
i regret
i never met ya
on th winggg
til i found my city
by th bay
on th gulf
a home for a rambler
train's at th station
St Pete, Florita,
beat th heat
go out early
do da right thing
smoke a bowl
listen to th singing squirrels play
they scamper from limb to wire an back again
an walk th wire masters of th show
then i feeling good
take out da garbage
before th full sun
heats up th place
an finding my peace
move on to another one
another pipe
well ground smoke
a few puffs
an i'mm off like a torch
cleanin th windows
an puttin on film
waiting for hurricaine season to come
when one fine summer's day
a tropical depression
gon walk right up old Chesapeake Bay
an pay you a visit
an unleash th charms of a city
of memories
an unmade visions
of wires an heat
to blow away
jazzlike
just so

turning the corner
in Baltimore the
announcement
said, what i see
is they are on
the corner, the
dealers that is,
on all the corners here in southwest Baltimore........

Dealers on every corner?
Man! Who says there's
no work for good pay?
Hey, if minimum wage
could feed a family of four,
I guess those dudes
wouldn't have to do that
any more.

that's the bottom line D
the dough from dealing feeds
the families in the alleys
it get's a lil overwhelming
sometimes down here
especially when family &
friends come over and see it
in person......you were here
on the best day of the year
in fact the only day of the year
when tranquilo reigns..........

sleep.......sleep my love
listen to the chimes
singing in the cool
breeze, backed by
the siren off in the
distance & the B&O
rairoad horn,
sleep my love & dream
those foot tappin'
wonderful ecstacies...........

You are the breath of me
Open my eyes so I can see

Grasping precious moments,
sitting in this chair 1 year
from now?
the ups and downs of
a life,
our birds sing in
the kitchen,
wind chimes ring
outside,
my dog ran thru the
field this morning
fetching the ball
in all his golden
majesty,
the other day he
chewed the covers
off my copy of Thomas
Merton's Asian Journals
and ate pages 101-114,
the section that related
Merton's visit with the
Dalai Lama back in '68,
how could ya ever scold a
dog for doing that?????

Maybe your dog was trying to gain enlightenment and that was the only was that your dog knew how. I came across a DVD at this video rental store here in Madison on Merton. It looked pretty interesting to me.
